Green Canopy; 1st in Oakham

SJSA is believed to be the first in Oakham to plant a tree as part of the Green Canopy Project. This project, in recognition of Her Majesty's platinum jubilee year in 2022, aims to have trees planted in Rutland in sufficient numbers to match the population of the County.

On 7th December 2021, battling high winds, the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland Sarah Furness, accompanied by the Chairman of SJSA David Patterson, planted a Winter Cherry in the grounds of St Anne's Close. It was pleasing to see a few hardy souls braved the weather in turning out to witness the event.
